Amanda Enright, LCPC
Hi, I’m Amanda; a mom to the 2 best daughters (I’ll admit my bias, but stick by it!), a cat mom to the 2 cutest cats, Peach and Luigi (again, biased, but true!), and a therapist (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor to be specific), currently residing in Southern Maryland. I’m originally from a very small town in upstate NY (we had 1 traffic light in town while I was growing up—they’ve upgraded to a second one since!!).
I have 15+ years of experience in the mental health field and still get real nerdy about helping clients better understand their mental health so we can work together to help them feel more stable and fulfilled in their life’s journey! I truly believe that a person needs to be able to understand the anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, etc. that they experience in order to bring about positive changes in their lives, so psycho-education (I sometimes use the fancy words to feel better about the expensive pieces of paper that are my degrees!) is something I integrate into just about all of my sessions! And speaking of those degrees, I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University at Albany, SUNY and my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.
When I'm not in my office, you might find me in my reading nook with a good book; at one of the local Southern Maryland beaches, listening to the water and soaking in the sun; or re-engaging in my love of tap dancing! I'm so glad that you've taken the brave step to find a therapist and as I always tell new clients, I may not be the right fit for you and that's ok! I encourage clients to let me know if they feel like we're not a good fit (a BIG part of why talk therapy works is because of the relationship between the therapist and client), and I can either adjust my approach in your sessions or I can provide you with a referral to a colleague who may be a better fit for you! And I promise, I know it's not about me and it won't hurt my feelings! I'm looking forward to working with you on your therapeutic journey!
